A picture from a thousand words

Washington-based artist Tyree Callahan modified a 1937 Underwood Standard typewriter, replacing the letter keys with coloured paint pads to create a functional painting machine entitled the Chromatic Typewriter.

Instead of inked letters, each key pad dispenses a splash of colour, making it possible to transform a string of letters in to a beautiful painting. If you can type without looking at the keyboard it’s possible to transform anything from a shopping list to Great Expectations into a work of art.

The Mountain Series – Sequined Street Art

I stumbled across these photos of a series of art installations in Reykjavik, Iceland and thought they were something quite special. They are the work of Danish artist Theresa Himmer, she created the sequin graffiti series as a critique of the damage being done to the environment, and the constant movement and flickering of the sequins resembling the natural movement of the water, ice or lava means they catch the consumers eye as they pop out against the run down urban areas in which they appear.
