Style sheet language, which most web designers and developers are familiar with, describes how an HTML document is structured and styled.

The more universally-adopted form of the style sheet is CSS, which is mostly used, above anything else, to style and make your beautifully crafted websites written in HTML look great.

The Burger King Garden Grill

The design collective OutofStock have redesigned a Burger King in Singapore with a fresh take on fast food restaurants.

BK wanted ‘a warm and welcoming store that would appeal to a wide audience – teens, young adults as well as families with children – the design should stand out but at the same time be accessible for the man on the street.’

Do More

Nobody likes to open up the curtains in the morning to find that the vacant houses opposite to their own have been boarded up. Not a pretty site as you’d imagine. To avoid this happening to a street in Burnley, the Housing Association got together with the local council and instead of just boarding up the vacant properties they painted the panels with curtains and window scenes. It’s not going to solve deeper social issues but it will brighten up the day-to-day for the residents who still live in the adjacent houses. The best bit of it all was that they got the community involved in the painting – DoMore you see!

Power to the people

It’s a nice thing to see when people go above and beyond the usual rant on Twitter. During the riots back in August, social media was quickly held responsible – along with the BBM messaging service on Blackberry devices – as easy channels for a minority to organise the riots. Once things had settled down a bit, social media became a powerful tool from which to fashion a quick response to the mess left by the rioters. People turned up in their thousands on the back of a simple call to arms on Twitter to help clean up the mess, which can only be a good thing for the taxpayer, as it would have cost a lot more for local councils to organise a clean-up operation. More to the power of good.
